Darwin Convention Centre

Project

Darwin Convention Centre

Darwin Convention Centre – completed in 2007 and designed by Hassell Architects – was a striking waterfront entertainment facility that signified the first use of Durra Panel in the Northern Territory.

Durra Panel can solve both break-out noise and internal reverberation.

The near-tropical climate of Darwin meant that fast-coverage of the building’s acoustic envelope was critical, to avoid lengthy delays on site due to weather. The Durra Lifting Frame was a great solution, allowing for a ground-based construction and improving site safety.

Because of the large open spaces and need for live atmospheres inside, Convention Centre type projects offers a great fit for Durra Panel, as the product can solve both break-out noise and internal reverberation within the one lining.

Darwin Convention Centre was the second major exhibition facility completed in Australia’s capital cities, eventually followed by Melbourne, Sydney (Darling Harbour) and Adelaide.
