For more than 50 years, Sing Sing Studios has been an iconic name in Australia’s recording industry. When owners Aaron Dobos and Tom Keating decided to relocate the legendary studio from South Yarra to Northcote, they needed a fit-out solution that could deliver premium acoustic performance with sustainability and flexibility front of mind.
The result is a stunning new facility built using Durra Panel’s modular acoustic studio system — a complete kit solution designed for superior sound isolation and quick installation.
Made entirely from compressed straw, Durra Panel delivered outstanding sound separation and a natural acoustic warmth — creating a space that’s quiet, balanced, and free from unwanted reflections. Its modular design also made it ideal for relocation, allowing the studio to be reassembled efficiently without compromise.
Project Highlights:
Exceptional acoustic isolation from the outside world
Naturally non-slappy, non-reflective surfaces for recording
Sustainable, Australian-made panels from recycled materials
Fully modular system — fast setup and flexible layout
Unique sound signature that enhances every recording session
This project demonstrates how Durra Panel continues to redefine acoustic architecture — merging sustainability, performance, and design flexibility for the creative industries.
