Northern Water Treatment Plant

Project

Northern Water Treatment Plant

The Northern Water Treatment Plant is an advanced water treatment facility located near Wandoan in far North Queensland. The plant will have capacity to purify 100 million litres of water per day.
A significant outcome and mile stone achievement for Durra Panelised Building Systems.

Construction of the Main Process Building was on a critical path time line and site safety was an imperative considering the 16m high roof and walls. Durra Acoustic Panel, Durra Steel Sections (roof purlins and wall girts) and metal cladding were assembled on ground into large 9m x 16m modules and then crane hoisted into position using the Durra Lifting Frame. The 5000m² building envelope including the acoustic lining was completed in less than three weeks. A significant outcome and mile stone achievement for Durra Panelised Building Systems.

Durra Panel and Durra Steel Sections were manufactured and assembled on site prior to erection of the Structural Steel work with the aid of 3D modelling. Durra Steel Sections, Durra Panels, Roof and Wall cladding were pre-assembled and fixed on ground then crane hoisted into position using the Durra Lifting Frame. This safe, fast and cost effective method of construction greatly reduced the project build time.
