Gold Coast Convention Centre

The Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre (GCCEC) was Australia’s first commercial project to incorporate Durra Pane’s Fiberglass Soundsorb Finish in order to achieve high-level noise absorption to the main exhibition area.
The roof could be constructed in parallel with the upper levels.

The uniquely shaped clerestory roof on both wings of the building proposed a new challenge for detailing the signature exposed grid of the Durra Steel Sections, with 3000m² of ceiling area spread across an intricate truss design that spanned up to 75m.

Project builder Multiplex took full advantage of the Durra Lifting Frame technology in order expedite installation of the sprawling roof system. Constructing large modules at ground level rather than 20 meters high resulted in considerable time and cost savings for the project as the roof could be constructed in parallel with the upper levels of concrete structure.
