Durra Panel is an Australian-made wall and ceiling system manufactured from compressed wheat and rice straw. Supplied pre-cut and finished, panels arrive on site ready to install, eliminating wet trades, reducing access requirements, and avoiding return visits once installed. With a fully finished ceiling achieved in a single installation pass, other trades can move in sooner, helping streamline construction and reduce overall project timelines.
Durra Panel delivers a faster, safer, and more efficient build, with a final system that is fire-rated, acoustically tested, carbon negative, and demountable at end of life. Each panel is formed using heat and pressure alone. A natural polymer in the straw fibre acts as its own binding agent, no chemical resins, no synthetic glues, no toxic binders. The result is a solid, durable panel core lined with recycled Kraft paper, ready for wall and ceiling applications across commercial, industrial, and residential projects.
Designed to streamline installation and reduce delays
Construction delays are driven by trade sequencing, rework, access constraints and time spent working at heights. Durra Panel and Durra Steel Sections are designed to remove or reduce these constraints through pre-finished delivery, a modular installation approach, ground-level assembly and reduced trade dependency, resulting in a faster, safer and more predictable build.
Components arrive manufactured, pre-cut, finished and ready to install — eliminating time lost to on-site cutting and preparation.
Larger sections of Durra Panel and Durra Steel are assembled at ground level and stacked, simplifying the process and accelerating installation.
The Durra Panel Lifting Frame enables fast, controlled lifting of assembled modules, with installation rates capable of reaching up to 100 m² per hour, while reducing time spent working at height.

The Gold Coast Studios super stage required 6,500m² of acoustic Durra Panel across the roof, ceiling and walls. The Durra Lifting Frame was used to install 4,500m² of acoustic Durra Panel in just 7 days. The 40 panelised modules we assembled at ground level before crane-hoisting them onto the structure, 6 to 8 lifts of 114m² per day, each weighing approximately 4,000kg. Penetrations for smoke vents were pre-formed into each module on the ground, eliminating high-access rework once in position.

Halcyon Factory Roof Replacement
800m² in 1 week
An entire 800m² factory roof was removed and replaced in a single week, above an operational food manufacturing facility that couldn’t stop running. Two specialised Durra lifting frames were used in sequence: the first to safely dismantle the old roof from above the live factory floor, the second to raise and position each new 110m² prefabricated roof and ceiling module into place. No shutdown. No delays. Full replacement of the roof and purlin structure delivered on schedule, without disrupting production.

KCC Cotton Gin
7,200 square metres of fully modular Durra Panel wall and ceiling systems installed at one of the most remote sites in the company’s history — a first-of-its-kind industrial facility designed to contain noise from reaching nearby residential areas. 56 prefabricated modules were lifted into place, the largest spanning approximately 125 square metres. The scale of the prefabrication required the largest lifting frame ever used on a Durra Panel project. A project where modular construction wasn’t just efficient — it was the only viable method.

Melbourne Park Tennis Centre
CENTREPIECE at Melbourne Park required ceiling modules to be prefabricated off-site to fit a complex, folded roof geometry, each pleat accommodating a custom V-shaped module, Durra Steel Sections and integrated box gutters. The Durra Lifting Frame was used allowing fully assembled ceiling modules to be hoisted into position from ground level. The prefabrication approach accelerated the build timeline, reduced working-at-height risks and delivered precision and quality control.
